Christmas at Copshalom brings holiday spirit to South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The History Museum in downtown South Bend is held Christmas at Copshalom, ushering in the holiday spirit, while learning a little bit more about the family that once lived in the Oliver Masion.
Each room had different decorations and over 20 trees were ready for families as they walked around and participated in various activities.
Shelby Cooper, manager of Marketing and Development at the History Museum, stated, " This is an event that we do every year. We have all three floors of the Oliver mansion decorated. You'll find us using both terms. It's the Oliver mansion, but they affectionately refer to it as copsha home, in honor of the builder. JD Oliver, his father's birthplace, back in Scotland, was called copsha home, so he named it copsha home in honor of his father, James Oliver, the inventor of the Oliver child plow. For the Christmas programs, we invite the public to come and view the house at their own pace. We consider it an open house, holiday open house."
The History Museum will hold another round of Christmas at Copshalom on Dec. 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
