STEVENSVILLE, Mich. -- UPDATE: The Lincoln Township Police Department reports a call came in around 5:31 p.m. on Wednesday to the 5300 block of St. Joseph Avenue in Stevensville regarding a train crashing with a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers determined a train heading north collided with a vehicle traveling west.
Police say the vehicle was traveling on a private driveway which crosses the train tracks to a home.
The report states the 28-year-old driver was ejected from the vehicle and later died at Corewell Health Hospital due to injuries sustained in the crash.
No other passengers were in the vehicle and no other injuries reported.
ORIGINAL STORY: Stevensville authorities confirm a car crashed with a train on St. Joseph Avenue near the Meijer in Stevensville around 5:30 p.m., Wednesday.
The driver was taken to the hospital via helicopter. Their condition is currently unknown.
