Delphi Murders Trial Day 16: Expert witnesses for the defense

ABC 57

DELPHI, Ind. -- The trial of Richard Allen continued on election day; the defense called their own expert witnesses to contradict the state's theory of events.

A psychiatrist who specializes in solitary confinement and false confessions, testified that he noticed symptoms of delirium when reviewing Richard Allen's prison phone calls.

An expert on crime scene reconstruction, who has reviewed the Indiana state police report on the unspent cartridge found at the crime scene, he stated comparing a bullet cycled through a gun versus fired from a gun is quote "apples to oranges."

Jurors had roughly 15 questions for this witness, the most of any witness in the trial so far.

A digital forensic examiner testified and stated that she believes some kind of auxiliary cord, like wired headphones were plugged into Libby's phone in the evening hours of February 13th, 2017.

This completely throws off the state's timeline, which had said that the girls died around the 2:30 timeframe of that day, then they were never moved until they were found.
