UPDATE: According to the Elkhart Police Department, a Norfolk employee reported discovering an apparent dead body just before noon. The body was reportedly found on top of a stopped train car.

Officers and first responders confirmed that the unidentified woman was, in fact, already dead.

No details are available on the identity of the woman.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is handing the investigation alongside Norfolk Southern Police.
