Concord High School begins new era of athletics at ribbon cutting for newest field

ELKHART, Ind. — After two years of development, the ribbon was finally cut on Concord High School's newest 'Jake' Field.

The newest upgrades include brand new bleachers, a towering press box, a new turf field, and a video board in the corner of the far endzone.

For Head Coach of Minutemen football, Craig Koehler, this was long overdue but is happy for it to take place right now.

“This is a place, that on Friday nights is a community event that involves a lot of people," Koehler said. "It’s long overdue; we’ve had great programs, you know, we have a great marching band, great football program, and the community supports us, so it’s something that everyone can be proud of.”

There will be plenty of full circle moments for Koehler and his team this coming season, especially when it comes to familiar foes and former homes.

The Minutemen will host the Elkhart lions for their home opener on August 21st, repaying the favor from last year as Elkhart allowed Concord to use their field, while the new facility was being constructed.

Coach Koehler says he is more than excited to break in the new turf on Jake Field against a familiar foe and friend.
