Elkhart Homicide Unit investigating death of man found unresponsive
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - The City of Elkhart and Elkhart Sister City Association is hosting its second annual Hispanic Heritage Festival this afternoon.
The mayor from Upon Mexico will be in attendance as she and the mayor of Elkhart will open the ceremony with the delegation of dignitaries at 12PM.
There will be musical groups, multiple food vendors and over 40 artists and market vendors. There will also be free children's activities including face painting, piñatas and folk dancers.
The mayor will give closing remarks at nine PM and the fest will end with fireworks show.
Elkhart County has nearly a 25 percent Latino population. City Attorney Rose Rivera says the fest is a great way to celebrate the month.
“It’s always exciting to celebrate diversity and the different cultures that make us up in Elkhart, Indiana. I love it,” Rivera said.
