Chlorine leak reported at Wellfield Botanic Gardens

ELKHART, Ind. - A chlorine gas leak was reported at Wellfield Botanic Gardens Thursday morning but poses no immediate threat to the public, according to the Elkhart Fire Department.

The fire department and hazmat team were called out to the area around 6 a.m. for a report of a leak in a small tank.

The leak has since been contained and there is no threat to the public, according to the fire department.

Despite it being a gas leak, there is no threat to air quality, according to the City of Elkhart Public Works & Utilities Department.
