PULASKI COUNTY, Ind. -- Following an incident involving an off-duty K-9 biting a child in Pulaski County, new rules are coming to how officers should handle their dogs while off duty.
ABC57's Kevin Warmhold met with the victim and spoke with Sheriff's Office seeking answers. The rules regarding off-duty officer's dogs were also requested and released. Following the first report of the story by ABC57, new rules will be implemented.
Through the Freedom of Information Act, the body camera footage was able to be released. Michaela Johns, the mother of the victim, was upset with neighbor making light of the situation in the body cam footage and how long they waited to take action.
Johns has obtained legal representation to protect her family and is grateful that they've made changes to the rules.
