UPDATE: Passengers identified in fatal crash on Grape Road
UPDATE November 21: Initial reports indicate that the passenger vehicle, driven by Pawandeep Singh, 24, of Fresno, California, was traveling southbound on Grape Road and attempted to pass another vehicle. He lost control, entered the northbound lanes and collided with the front of the transport bus driven by Helen Phillips, 53, of South Bend.
Singh and a passenger in the vehicle, Bikramjt Singh, 23, also of Fresno, were deceased at the scene. Phillips was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
UPDATE 9:37 p.m.: The crash, happening just before 7:45p.m., shut down several lanes of traffic tonight.
Police tell ABC57 that the car lost control on the wet pavement, swerved into oncoming traffic, and eventually collided with the Transpo bus.
Only two people were aboard the bus at the time of the crash: a singular passenger and the bus driver; both are expected to be okay.
Both the driver and the passenger in the car, however, unfortunately died.
Names will not be released at this time.
UPDATE 8:32 p.m.: Reports from Mishawaka Fire Department confirms that the crash is fatal.
Number of injuries is still unknown and ABC57 will continue to release updates as more information comes out about the crash.
MISHAWAKA, Ind.--Mishawaka Police and Fire Department are responding to a collision between a vehicle and a Transpo bus tonight at the intersection of Grape Road and Imus Drive.
Officials responded to the scene around 7:44 p.m., it is still an active scene, avoid the area if possible.
It is currently unknown how many people have been injured and the extent of their injuries.
