La Porte County Sheriff\'s Office

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The La Porte County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of 18-year-old Phillip J. Duffus following a month-long investigation.

On Dec. 13, 2025, motorists reported their vehicles had been damaged by an object as they were traveling on US 421.

The motorists advised deputies that an object had been discarded from a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

Each incident caused varying amounts of damage to the motorist’s vehicles. The incidents occurred between C.R. 200 North and C.R. 1800 South.

Upon an investigation, Duffus was identified as one of the two suspects.

Probable Cause was later found in La Porte County Circuit Court, and two arrest warrants were issued for Duffus.

Duffus was recently located and taken into custody in Lake County. He was transported to the La Porte County Jail earlier this week by the Warrants Division.

Duffus was arrested on four counts of Criminal Recklessness, Level 6 Felony, and four counts of Criminal Mischief, Class B-Misdemeanor.

Duffus was released from the LCJ following a cash bond being posted on his behalf.
