UPDATE: Man found dead outside Michigan City church died of acute alcohol intoxication
ABC 57 UPDATE: The Michigan City Police Department announced on Wednesday that an autopsy on Erik Johnson revealed his cause of death to be accidental due to acute alcohol intoxication.

ORIGINAL STORY: MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- At approximately 9:48 a.m. on March 27, the LaPorte County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call regarding an unconscious person found outside of Temple Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2725 Wabash Street.
Officers responded to the scene and located 57-year-old resident Erik Johnson lying on the ground unconscious.
Johnson was given lifesaving measures by the La Porte EMS and was transported to Franciscan Health Hospital in Michigan City where he was eventually pronounced deceased.
An autopsy is scheduled and will determine the cause of death.
According to detectives from the Investigative Division, there is no known threat to the community at this time.
Additional information will not be released at this time to safeguard the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
The Michigan City Fire Department, LaPorte County EMS and LaPorte County Coroner’s Office also assisted with the investigation.
