Berrien County Health Department highlights Sexual Health Clinic services for Cervical Health Awareness Month
BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Berrien County Health Department is highlighting its Sexual Health Clinic services as part of Cervical Health Awareness Month.
BCHD officials say the clinic offers accessible, nonjudgmental and supportive services to community members through in-person and telehealth appointments.
“By offering low-cost preventative cervical health services, we are helping our community take proactive steps to protect their health,” said BCHD clinical and community services supervisor Dionne Rigozzi. "Our team at the Berrien County Health Department’s Sexual Health Clinic is dedicated to providing compassionate, nonjudgmental care for all community members."
The clinic provides pelvic exams, pap smears, and high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) screening to monitor cervical health and detect early signs of cervical cancer.
“Getting a regular pelvic exam and pap smear is essential in detecting early signs of cervical cancer and ensuring long-term health," said Rogozzi.
Besides cervical health services, the Sexual Health Clinic offers sexual health education and testing and treatments for sexually transmitted infections.
Health officials say these services aim to promote overall sexual health and prevent the spread of STIs.
These services are offered at lower rates than other local health care organizations, and most types of insurance are accepted, according to the BCHD.
Clinic appointments are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at the BCHD's Benton Harbor office at 2149 E. Napier Ave., and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at its Niles office at 1205 N. Front St.
Walk-in services are offered at both locations from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays, and telehealth appointments are offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
