Fire attacks The Mill apartment complex Wednesday morning
With the lights on the trees and the fire pits flickering, Howard Park certainly looks like it’s ready for colder temperatures. The start of ice-skating season is just over three weeks away, currently scheduled for November 29 (Black Friday).
The issue: Michiana’s weather is showing no sign of cooperating.
South Bend is currently on pace for a top 10 warmest fall on record. Our overnight low temperatures Monday and Tuesday were values typically seen at the end of August, not in early November.
The warmer-than-normal weather shows no signs of slowing down. High temperatures for the next week will likely stay in the 50s and 60s. Low temperatures will stay above freezing.
The Climate Prediction Center has Michiana favored for above-normal temperatures through the Thanksgiving holiday.
We’ll have to wait and see if the warm weather interferes with winter activities across Michiana. At this point, serious cold looks like it will stay away until December at the earliest.
