American Red Cross in communication with emergency managers

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The American Red Cross is in constant communication with emergency managers across the area monitoring the incoming snow storm.

"We are not at a point that we would open up shelters," John Pinter, Executive Director of the American Red Cross, St. Joseph Co. Chapter said Sunday.

'The temperatures are not cold enough to consider opening the severe cold system," Pinter said.

The American Red Cross said that they only way they would consider using shelters during this snow event would be for stranded motorists.

If the transportation department were to contact the Red Cross because of highway closures or a road closures they would start getting in contact with their local shelters, most in which are area churches.
