South Bend Community Police Review Board met Thursday night
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - In August of 2021, Tamika Pittman and Paul Franklin gave a check to Under One Roof Construction in the amount of $55,000 to rebuild their house.
The home remained an empty lot, and the owner of the company, John Bray Jr., never showed up.
Pittman and Franklin attempted to file a police report, and according to them they were told it was a civil case, not criminal.
Their insurance money which paid for temporary housing ran out.
That left them, their disabled son, and their two dogs homeless, living out of the family van.
ABC57 investigated John Bray Jr. and his company, and after our story aired on ABC57, Indiana State Police started an investigation, eventually landing Bray Jr. in handcuffs.
Records indicate a plea deal has been submitted with the possibility of some restitution being paid back.
Sentencing is set for February 14th in St. Joseph County.
