UPDATE: Suspect identified, charges revealed following Broadway Street SWAT situation
UPDATE TWO: The St. Joseph County Police Department has released further details regarding the SWAT standoff on W. Broadway Street Thursday morning.
Police say 33-year-old Anthony Miltenberger led the Warrants Division to the 200 block of W. Broadway Street around 10:20 a.m.
Miltenberger was wanted for parole violations out of Indiana and Michigan for the underlying charges of Carrying a Handgun Without a License and with a Prior Conviction and Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Penetration.
Police say he refused to come out and barricaded himself inside.
Due to his history of violence, the St. Joseph County Metro SWAT was called in.
Miltenberger was detained and taken into custody.
He was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail where he will await his court hearings.
UPDATE: The Mishawaka Police Department reports officers were on scene at 209 W. Broadway St. around 10:19 a.m., Thursday to assist the St. Joseph County Police Department Warrants Division.
Police say they were serving an arrest warrant with nationwide extradition on an adult male.
Authorities say the man barricaded himself inside the home.
The situation evolved leading to the Metro County SWAT team to be activated.
The man was arrested by SWAT, and no injuries have been reported.
ORIGINAL STORY: MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Officers from the Mishawaka Police Department along with SWAT and deputies from the St. Joseph County Police Department have blocked off a section of Broadway Street in Mishawaka Thursday morning.
Police arrived on scene sometime before 11 a.m. Broadway Street is currently closed between Ann Street and W. Marion Street.
Police dispatch told ABC57 officers are at a home trying to make contact with someone but couldn't say anything further.
ABC57 has crew on scene who say authorities have fired shots at the second-floor window and were calling out a name over the speaker from a police vehicle.
