6-year-old girl sent to hospital after being hit by car

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to 30963 Riverbend Circle around 5:35 p.m., Tuesday, for an incident involving a child hit by a car.

The report states a 2008 Ford Taurus, driven by a 46-year-old Osceola woman, was traveling west on Riverbend Circle when a 6-year-old girl ran out from between two cars and in front of the Ford.

Deputies say the Ford then struck the girl with the passenger's side front bumper.

The girl suffered injuries to her right thigh and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.

Deputies say drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash.

No citations were given or charges filed according to the report.
