CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- Deputies Sam Harris and Dane Wilson were recognized Thursday for saving a driver that crashed into a pond in July.

The deputies received Cass County Challenge Coins and life-saving pins.

After responding to an iPhone crash detection, the officers discovered a car at the scene, but no occupants. Someone could be heard yelling; the officers then got into the water and rescued the driver.

Sheriff Roach said, "without the actions of these two, the driver probably would have drowned in Mill Pond. They went above and beyond to do what they needed to do to save this man's life. It's an honor to have them work for me."
