Elkhart Parks and Recreation

ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart Parks and Recreation invites kids to participate in the Zombie Apocalypse Police Squad training program on Oct. 5 and 12, where they'll learn essential skills to survive in a post-apocalyptic Elkhart.

While battling zombies in a Nerf gun adventure, kids ages 8 to 12 practice first aid, outdoor survival skills, target shooting with Nerf darts, and how to be Eco-friendly.

Participants of the two-part program will be joined by Elkhart Parks Department Rangers and staff.

Oct. 5 is training day at Studebaker Park from 10 a.m. to noon, with battle day at Hayden Park on Oct. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The cost is $20 per participant, which includes Nerf ammunition.

Organizers say the program is for entertainment purposes only and some elements may be intense for some children.

If your child is ready to join the squad, you can enlist online.
