Woman shot, man injured in incident on Lavette

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Police are investigating a shooting and assault that happened in the 800 block of Lavette Wednesday evening, according to the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety.
Officers responded to the residence around 11:35 p.m. and found a 24-year-old woman with a gunshot wound and a 27-year-old man with injuries from an assault.
The woman was taken to the hospital and is stable.
The male was treated at the hospital and released.
