STARKE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Starke County Sheriff's Office reports a suspect was taken into custody on Feb. 28, stemming from a December 2024 burglary and homicide investigation in North Judson.
Authorities say the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Brittnie Kanschat of Leiters Ford, was found to have been in a dating relationship with Timothy Minix during the time of the burglary and homicide of his father, Landin Minix.
Timothy was arrested and charged with the murder of his dad on Dec. 7, 2024.
The report states throughout the investigation, detectives obtained evidence that suggested Kanschat helped Timothy in the burglary of his dad’s house.
Deputies say as a result, Kanschat was detained, and a report was given to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
The prosecutor’s office has now formally charged Kanschat with Assisting a Criminal, a Level 5 Felony.
She is currently being held at the Starke County Justice Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
