NOW: What you should know: Airport officials expect busy travel week at SBN

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- If you’re planning on traveling this week, you’re among 100 million Americans expected to do so!

Airport officials are advising travelers to expect delays and even cancellations in some cases. They are urging travelers to check their flight status before getting to the airport.

All major airlines now offer a mobile app, which streamlines the process of getting in and out of the airport. Using airline mobile apps is highly recommended by airport staff allowing most travelers to check in 24 hours prior to take off.

Traveling light with just a carry-on? That means you can skip the check-in lines and head straight to security.

And at security, officials at the South Bend International Airport say to expect to wait in line but you can make things easier by remembering TSA’s 3-1-1 rule for traveling with liquids:

(3) Liquids, gels, and creams should not exceed 3 ounces

(1) All your liquids must fit into one clear quart sized bag

(1) And only one clear bag is allowed per traveler

For those taking a flight out of the South Bend International Airport, officials say two hours is how much time is needed to get through the check-in and security process and arrive at your gate this week.
