GOSHEN, Ind. -- The City of Goshen hosted an open house Tues. evening at Chamberlain Elementary to introduce residents to the upcoming free water service line replacement program and other infrastructure improvements coming to Northside neighborhoods.
At no cost to residents, the city will be replacing up to 458 galvanized water service lines and lead goosenecks in select neighborhoods, as well as other infrastructure updates like additional storm sewers, road repairs, and new sidewalks.
“For those that are in this project bounds, if they choose to not to let us do it now, it will ultimately be something that they may end up having to fund… we’re actually funding both sides of it with this grant. The utilities side and the customer side,” said Utilities City Engineer, Jamey Bontrager-Singer.
The city is paying for the project with state grants and low-interest loans, but they need homeowners in the replacement areas to sign a property owner agreement.
