ELKHART, Ind. -- About a dozen volunteers spent Monday evening cleaning up trash and re-mulching the walking trail at Woodlawn Park in Elkhart.
All in an Earth Day effort to make sure this hidden gem remains beautiful.
Since the first Earth Day in 1970, Michiana and the U.S. as a whole has seen rising temperatures. While the South Bend area has seen an increase of 1.1 degrees, Indiana and the rest of United States has experienced almost a two-and-a-half-degree increase.
While those seem like small numbers, they can have big consequences on the climate.
For more information on how climate change is affecting Michiana, check out our special report, "Sudden Shift," here.
