WYANDOTTE, Mich.—A dog stranded on a chunk of ice floating in the Detroit River was rescued by a team of firefighters, police officers and animal control officials on Monday, according to the Wyandotte Police Department.
Police said the labradoodle had gotten away from its owner during a walk and jumped into the Detroit River.
The dog then climbed onto a chunk of ice.
A firefighter captured the dog using a catch pole while standing on a slippery ladder submerged in the river. Other firefighters held onto him with a rope.
