SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah— A dog dying from cancer was given one last snow day thanks to a Utah ice center.

In a post on Facebook that has since been shared thousands of times, the Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation told a bit of Maggie the dog’s story.

The post starts with a “tearjerker” warning and explained that Maggie’s owners had contacted the Salt Lake County Ice Center for some help giving their dog a special day.

The ice center filled bins, buckets and the back of a van with ice shavings from the rink and brought them to Maggie’s backyard on Monday.

Maggie was able to enjoy the snow with her family one last time.

“Sending our love and condolences to Maggie’s family. We appreciate the unique privilege of providing her a little heaven on earth,” the parks and recreation department wrote in the post.

In a follow-up post, the Salt Lake County Ice Center shared that Maggie passed away after her snow day.
