Indiana US Senator Mike Braun spoke about the on-going trade war with China and how it is impacting farmers in Indiana and across the country.
Braun said that struggling farmers are already going through enough trouble and that he hopes the growing trade war will soon come to an end.
“Most farmers have been weaned off of government involvement, but in the process of dealing with the Chinese, even though I don't like it philosophically. We come to help them if we still at an impasse. I really believe with China it's going to take some time,” Senator Braun said.
The tariffs will also impact people right here in Michiana.
People can expect higher prices on a variety of food and household goods imported from China.
Economists said that the current trade war could cost an average American family of four and extra $767 a year due to the tariffs.
