ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Two brothers were sent to the hospital Thursday afternoon after a fight at their home in St. Joseph County. One was beaten and the other was shot “in the lower extremity” according to St. Joseph County Police.
Police said five suspects in two different cars drove up to the house on the 58100 block of Aspen Drive off Harrison Road.
"People from the vehicle evidently pulled up, a fight ensued, and at some point a shot was fired, and the one individual was hit,” said Sheriff Mike Grzegorek.
A neighbor says the victims described the two cars as a red Taurus and a silver Monte Carlo.
Police used metal detectors to search the scene for shell casings.
Steve Bolin lives down the street and said it’s unsettling to have something like this happen nearby.
"Kind of unsettling to know that something happened down there without us even knowing it’s going on,” said Bolin.
The victims were taken to a local hospital. Police said one is his late teens and the other in his early twenties.
"The one that was battered appeared to be minor injuries. The one that was shot was shot in the lower extremities. Didn't appear life threatening at that time,” said Grzegorek.
Friday night, four teenagers are in custody after the fight. Police arrested 19-year-old Reginald Alexander and 18-year-old Cody Rajski.
A 17-year old girl and a 17-year-old boy also face charges.
