A once unsolved 1980 murder case is now solved

 (ABC57) A case that rocked Michiana more than 40 years ago now has some closure. Back in 1980 15-year-old Shelly Ann Werner of Mishawaka was abducted and killed. Investigators tried to solve the case but were never able to do it. Police say they interviewed as many as 145 people over the years.

Today investigators say they identified three people who were responsible for that murder, but those three are now all dead. Because of that police say they are not releasing the names because charges can't be filed against people who have died.

Investigators say a key witness helped them solve the case and they believe the killers had targeted Werner.
