Two sections of S.R. 4 to have extended lane closures starting July 14

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Transportation announced there will be alternating lane closures in two locations on S.R. 4 beginning on July 14.
INDOT says S.R. 4 will be reduced to one lane between C.R. 925 E and C.R. 1000 E beginning on or after July 14 through mid-September.
Officials say the crews will be working on a bridge deck overlay preventative maintenance project over the Kankakee River.
S.R. 4 will also be reduced to one lane between C.R. 500 E and Taylor Road on or after July 21 through early October.
This work includes a bridge deck overlay preventative maintenance project over the Little Kankakee River.
Temporary traffic signals will be in place to direct traffic.
INDOT urges drivers to stay alert near crews and be prepared to wait for the temporary traffic signal.
Motorists are asked to allow extra time when driving through work areas and should slow down and drive distraction-free.
