Two Emmons Elementary School students nearly abducted Wednesday afternoon

MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Two Emmons Elementary School students were nearly abducted on their way to their grandmother's house on West Ninth Street after school on Wednesday afternoon.

The 10- and 11-year-old were approached by a black SUV, and a white male passenger asked if they wanted a ride.

After they refused, the vehicle began following them, and the passenger got out and began chasing them on foot.

The children ran through alleys and side streets to make it to their grandmother's house safely.

Authorities say the passenger was approximately 20- to 30-years-old and clean shaven. He was wearing a black shirt and blue shorts.

The vehicle had a scratch on the driver's side and on the window of the driver's side door. The children were not able to identify the driver of the SUV.
