Two arrested on drug charges at gas station on Cassopolis Street
ELKHART, Ind. - Two people were arrested on drug charges in the parking lot of a gas station on Cassopolis Street Wednesday afternoon, according to the Elkhart Police Department.
Felix Rodriguez III, 39, of Elkhart was arrested on the charges of unlawful carrying of a handgun, operating habitual traffic violator - lifetime, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
Jacqueline Walters, 35, of Indianapolis, was arrested on the charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
At 4:38 p.m., an officer on patrol near the intersection of Bristol and Cassopolis streets was notified of a U-Haul nearby that was reported stolen.
Police pulled over the U-Haul in the parking lot of a gas station in the 1500 block of Cassopolis St.
Rodriguez and Walters stepped out of the vehicle and were detained without further incident.
During the investigation, police discovered Rodriguez had a driver's license status of habitual traffic violator - life.
Police found marijuana, paraphernalia and a handgun in the vehicle and methamphetamine in Walters' purse, reports said.
Both are being held at the Elkhart County Jail on their charges.
