Transportation department announces new fee rules for airlines

No more shady faux airline fares for flyers.

The government is forcing airlines to be more upfront about flight costs. It's a part of a new set of consumer-protection rules.

The transportation department is requiring airlines to include all taxes and fees in advertised fares. They must also include fees for checking bags when flyers book and pay for a ticket online.

Customers will have 24 hours to change reservations without having to pay re-booking fees.

The changes take effect in two weeks.
