ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- UPDATE: Police say the westbound lanes are clear and open.

ORIGINAL STORY: The St. Joseph County Police Department reports deputies responded to the westbound lanes of the U.S. 20 Bypass near Beech Road just before 11 a.m. Tuesday for multiple trailers coming loose from a vehicle.

Motorists should expect a slight delay and are asked to allow for extra time as the scene is cleared.

Police say a vehicle hauling trailers had a mechanical issue which caused the trailers to become loose and scatter across the roadway.

Police are working to get both westbound lanes fully open.
