ELKHART, Ind. -- The Tolson Community and Youth Center began their summer camp on Monday.
The camp takes place Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The children who attend can participate in activities like swimming, tennis, basketball, crafts and field trips.
The Tolson Community Center was closed down last year when the City Council refused to fund it further.
In March, Mayor Tim Neese announced that the city is bringing the youth summer camp back.
Superintendent Randy Norton said that they hope to have full programming reinstated by Fall 2019.
“It’s a safe environment, it’s clean, it’s nice. It’s a tradition and people have been coming here for many years for summer camp so we’re just reestablishing what has already been established a long time ago,” Superintendent Norton said.
Summer camp will run until Friday, July 26.
