Time running out for some veterans to enroll in VA Healthcare under the PACT Act

NOW: Time running out for some veterans to enroll in VA Healthcare under the PACT Act

The PACT act is set to expire this weekend on September 30 at 11:59 p.m. The veteran's administration calls it a life changing program.

Since I qualify for the pact act myself, we decided to show you the simple enrollment process firsthand with the help of Jeremiah Schieble, a supervisor who covers enrollment at the VA.

“It's important because once you're enrolled, you're enrolled for the rest of your life, you're good to go. We understand that there's veterans who missed the first window, here's your opportunity to catch the second one.”

The pact act which was signed into law in the pact act was approved in august of 2022 and not only applies to veterans who deployed post 9/11.

It expands VA health care and benefits for vets exposed to burn pits, agent orange during Vietnam, and other toxic substances without applying for regular VA benefits.

If you qualify, it will cost you nothing.

What qualifies you?

  • Veterans who deployed to a combat zone never enrolled in VA healthcare.
  • Veterans who Left active duty between September 11, 2001, and October 1, 2013, are eligible to enroll directly in VA health care.

Jeremiah tells us there’s another reason why veterans who qualify should sign up.

Those enrolled in VA health care are proven to have better health outcomes than non-enrolled veterans.

“The VA is important for veterans because it's all combat or veteran specific care. They're able to narrow things down that say on the outside, they wouldn't even think about.”

There are several ways to sign up before the Saturday deadline.

You can apply by phone by calling 877-222-8387.

Apply by mail, which may be tough given the current timeline.

Or the easiest and quickest way, in person at your local VA healthcare facility.
