Three-vehicle crash sends one passenger to hospital

ABC 57

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A three-vehicle crash on C.R. 14 Tuesday morning left one in the hospital and two drivers cited, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

Around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, a 2006 Nissan Altima driving east on C.R. 14 began to slide around before the driver, 49-year-old Enis Gonzalez of Elkhart, lost control of the vehicle.

According to the sheriff's office's news release, Gonzalez veered into the westbound lane, hitting a utility pole in front of a 2014 Honda Odyssey driving west on C.R. 14.

The Honda struck the Nissan in the back, spinning into the eastbound lane and colliding with a third vehicle, a 2010 Toyota Camry headed east, driven by the 39-year-old Lindsay Brill of Elkhart.

Gonzalez complained of shoulder pain and was cleared on scene by EMS. She was cited for driving too fast for the road conditions. Her passenger was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for neck pain.

The Honda's driver complained of knee pain and was cleared by EMS. Brill complained of head pain and was also cleared by EMS. Brill was then cited for operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility.
