Teen bicyclist injured Friday evening in Goshen

GOSHEN, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports on Friday, June 21, at around 7:03 p.m., deputies responded to S.R. 13 north of C.R. 36 in Goshen, for a crash involving a bicycle and a car.

The report states a 15-year-old Goshen boy was riding his bike east in the driveway of 63595 S.R. 13 when he entered the roadway.

A 2024 GMS Sierra, driven by a 57-year-old Cromwell man, was travelling south on S.R. 13 just north of 63595 S.R. 13.

The boy then entered the southbound lanes of S.R. 13 and failed to yield to southbound traffic, resulting in him crashing into the front passenger's side door of the Sierra.

The boy was not wearing a helmet and was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital for possible lower extremity injuries.

The bike incurred front wheel damage.

The driver was uninjured while the Sierra suffered damage on the passenger's side door.

The driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Nobody was cited in this incident.
