UPDATE: Suspect on the run since 2018 allegedly impregnated teen before fleeing

UPDATE: ABC57 has obtained the 2018 probable cause affidavit for Edin Henriquez-Galeano regarding the circumstances leading up to his charge of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a Level 5 Felony.

The court document filed May 29, 2018, in Marshall County, reveals the Indiana Department of Child Services informed the Plymouth Police Department a 15-year-old girl was pregnant, and it was alleged that Henriquez-Galeano was responsible.

Henriquez-Galeano was 31 years old at the time.

Police say the initial report was made by the victim's school guidance counselor.

Authorities then spoke with the counselor who informed them she's obtained an audio-recorded statement from the victim regarding the situation.

Court documents state in the recording, the victim is heard admitting that she and Henriquez-Galeano had met and been in a relationship for several months, he knew she was 15, and she knew he was 31.

The victim is then heard saying the two had sex at least two times at Edin Henriquez-Galeano's home in Plymouth.

Police say, through further investigation, a photo of Henriquez-Galeano on the victim's school computer.

On May 23, 2018, authorities went to his last known address, where they spoke with his mother and another relative.

Henriquez-Galeano's family told police he'd left home the week before and got a new phone number. They said they didn't know where he was.

When police ran a criminal history check on Edin Henriquez-Galeano, investigators found he'd been processed through Immigration and Customs Enforcement in 2005 and there was a warrant of removal pending with ICE.

ORIGINAL STORY: MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Sheriff's Department reports a man on the run from prosecution since 2018 was located and arrested on Jan. 29.

Deputies say the suspect, 38-year-old Edin Omar Henriquez-Galeano of Illinois, formerly of Plymouth, had an outstanding arrest warrant issued in May 2018 for Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a Level 4 Felony.

The case was initially investigated by the Plymouth Police Department. Henriquez-Galeano was considered a fugitive from justice after fleeing the area.

Authorities say they recently obtained the possible whereabouts of Henriquez-Galeano from crime analysts with the Indiana State Police, who learned he might be in Illinois.

Once the information was given to the sheriff's department, efforts were coordinated with the United States Marshals Service to find Henriquez-Galeano.

On Jan. 29, Henriquez-Galeano was taken into custody by the US Marshals and taken to Cook County Jail in Chicago where he stayed until being extradited to Marshall County on Thursday.

Henriquez-Galeano is being held on a $25,000 cash bond and a detainer hold for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
