ABC 57

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- Michigan State Police Marshall Post #507 reports troopers assisted the LaGrange County Sheriff's Office in the pursuit of a U-Haul truck that entered Michigan through St. Joseph County and into Branch County.

The report states a 48-year-old LaGrange man with a felony warrant fled from LaGrange County deputies in a U-Haul truck.

Authorities say the pursuit traveled into St. Joseph County at which point MSP troopers successfully deployed stop sticks.

The suspect continued into Branch County where a second successful stop sticks deployment caused the truck to crash into a ditch.

The report states at this point the suspect barricaded himself in the truck and refused to comply with commands.

Authorities say the man had a long knife in his hand.

Officers on scene were able to negotiate with the suspect who then put the knife down.

The suspect was removed from the truck and taken into custody without incident.

He remains in the Branch County Jail at this time on charges of Flee and Elude and multiple Resisting and Obstructing charges.
