Suspect arrested in shooting at Pokagon State Park, 9-year-old girl injured

STUEBEN COUNTY, Ind. -- Indiana Conservation Officers, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police are investigating a shooting which happened on Saturday, July 6, at Pokagon State Park.

A around 10:45 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot at the park.

Authorities say the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Maung Oker Aung of Fort Wayne, was apprehended quickly.  

One man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, while additional victims, including a 9-year-old girl and a 38-year-old man, suffered injuries from bullet fragments.

Aung was taken into custody and booked into the Steuben County Jail.

Aung faces preliminary charges of battery with a deadly weapon, a level five felony, and criminal recklessness, a level six felony.
