Studebaker Speaker Series: America's Canal Era

The Henry Ford

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- In the early 19th century, Americans looked to canals for transportation. They carried people and goods over long distances with minimal power and extended the benefits of water-born commerce from seaports to inland communities.

Join The Henry Ford Museum’s Curator of Transportation, Matt Anderson, as he recognizes the 200th anniversary of the completion of New York State’s Erie Canal, and the rise and fall of canal building in pre-Civil War United States.

This Studebaker Museum Speaker Series, presented by the Campisi Family Education Fund, is held in the Wiekamp Auditorium on Oct. 15 at 1:30 p.m.

Regular Speaker Series admission is $2. Studebaker National Museum and Campus Members are admitted free.
