UPDATE: Suspect identified, charged in officer-involved shooting near Benton Township Home Depot

UPDATE FOUR: The suspect in the officer-involved shooting near the Benton Township Home Depot has been identified as 46-year-old Peter H. Pearson, who is homeless.
Pearson remains in the hospital and was arraigned on Tuesday, Sept. 8, on three counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and two counts of Assaulting, Resisting, or Obstructing a Police Officer.
Pearson was issued a 250,000 cash/surety bond.
This incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police 5th District Special Investigation Unit.
UPDATE THREE: The Berrien County Sheriff's Office reports Benton Township police were called to the access drive near Home Depot around 8:37 a.m. for a felonious assault report. An unknown man allegedly shot at a woman.
Officers arrived and attempted to make contact with the suspect who was inside a van.
Police say a standoff ensued and the suspect was able to escape on foot into the nearby woods.
Authorities quickly established a perimeter before searching for the man, which included the use of a K9.
A member of the BCSO Tactical Response Unit then made contact with the suspect who was armed with a gun.
The TRU member then shot the suspect.
Medical attention was given to the suspect, and he was taken to Corewell Health Lakeland for further treatment.
MSP has been requested to investigate the incident.
The names of the suspect and officers involved are being withheld at this time.
UPDATE TWO: Michigan State Police report troopers were on scene assisting the Benton Township Police Department and Berrien County Sheriff's Office with an officer-involved shooting Friday morning.
Police say the shooting happened near Home Depot on Pipestone Road.
Authorities say the suspect suffered a gunshot wound and was taken for medical treatment.
Police say there's no known threat to the public at this time, but the public is asked to avoid the area as the investigation is ongoing.
The scene remains active as of noon, Friday. The suspect's identity has not been released.

ORIGINAL STORY: BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Home Depot in Benton Township is on lockdown Friday morning with multiple law enforcement agencies combing the nearby woods.
In the video above, heavily armed agents can be seen near the woods' edge.
A witness on scene tells ABC57 shots were fired, although that's yet to be confirmed.
