WARREN TOWNSHIP, Ind.-- Warren Township fire fighters responded to a tree on a powerline this afternoon, July 1st. Strong winds that gusted through Chain O'lakes knocked down a tree limb onto a transformer and then caught fire. Fire fighters say they weren't sure what to expect when they arrived on scene, but cautioned others nearby to stay away.
"The cable that's down now is not a danger. But the best thing for residents to do is stand back," said Tony Van Overberghe, Assistant Chief of Warren Township Fire Department.
Warren Township fire fighers have responded to trees on electrical wires five times in the last two days.
