ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department reports patrol officers recovered a stolen vehicle in the 2000 block of Frances Avenue on Sunday, Dec. 8, after receiving a Flock alert.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, identified as 57-year-old Paul Cady, was arrested in connection with the investigation and remains in the Elkhart County Jail.

Police say on Dec. 8, around 8:40 a.m., officers responded to Belle Tire at 2624 Cassopolis St. regarding the theft of a Subaru Outback from the parking lot.

The report states later that evening around 10:10 p.m., an EPD officer received a Flock alert that the Subaru was traveling near Main Street and Prairie Street.

Officers then conducted a felony stop on the vehicle and arrested Cady without incident.

Cady was booked on a preliminary charge of Auto Theft-Prior, a Level 5 Felony.

On Monday, an Elkhart County judicial officer found probable cause for Cady's arrest and set his bond at $10,000.

The case has been forwarded to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for review of formal criminal charges.
