SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Election Board conducted a thorough test of their voting equipment today in preparation for the upcoming election.
Machines were randomly selected from various locations throughout the county and tested at their respective polling places.
This testing process, mandated by the state of Indiana, is designed to ensure a safe and secure election. Lead Machine Technician Chris Lyle emphasized the importance of public transparency and confidence in the voting process.
“I think this is just a great opportunity for the public to come out and give them, give them a chance to again, see the machines." said Lyle, "Understand what the machines do. I think most of all, at the end of the day, understand, as a voter, your vote’s going to count, and the integrity of these machines are the utmost, 100 percent secure.”
The machines passed the tests with flying colors, confirming their readiness for the election.
Voters are reminded that they can still register to vote until midnight on Oct. 7, with early voting beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
