ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved two land purchases for future land development.
The Board of Commissioners were authorized to purchase 56120 Larrison in New Carlisle, with funding from the St. Joseph County Redevelopment Commission, for $301,350, plus selling costs.
The land will be used by Independent Electrical Contractors.
Additionally, the Board of Commissioners were authorized to purchase 14390 Douglas Rd. in Mishawaka, with funding from the St. Joseph County Redevelopment Commission, for $151,650, plus selling costs.
Carl Baxmeyer, the President of the Board of Commissioners, spoke on the approval of sale saying, "Douglas Rd. is a heavily traveled road. We are supporters of efforts to improve transportation on Douglas."
The land will be used for future roadway improvements from Douglas Rd. to Capitol Ave.
Construction could start around late 2024-25, dependent on the railroad company agreeing and the final design of the road.
