Martin Luther King III to speak in Berrien County at monument unveiling

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- On Tuesday, Nov. 19, the son of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, Martin Luther King III will be in Berrien County to see the unveiling of two monuments dedicated to his father and hold a conversation at Lake Michigan College. 

The monuments will be revealed at two separate ceremonies, one in Benton Harbor and one in St. Joseph where the monuments are placed.

King III will start the day at the Margret B. Upton Arboretum in St. Joseph for the first monument unveiling at 10:30 a.m. before leading a Unity March at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph to Benton Harbor. 

The march will end around 11:30 a.m. at the Dwight P. Mitchell City Center Park for the second unveiling ceremony. Directly following the unveilings, the group will meet on the grounds of the LMC Mendel Center for lunch where food trucks will be available

At 1:30 p.m., King III will hold an event on Lake Michigan College called, "A Conversation with Martin Luther King III" at the LMC Mendel Center.
