S.R. 23 resurfacing resumes Wednesday

INDOT

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Transportation announced on Monday the S.R. 23 road resurfacing project between South Bend and North Liberty will resume on Wednesday.

The work will include lane closures on S.R. 23 between Wolf Street in North Liberty and Olive Street and Locust Road in South Bend.

Flaggers will be in place while work is being done.

The lane closures are for road resurfacing and road widening in some locations.

INDOT says there will also be a small structure replacement conducted between U.S. 20/31 and Ireland Road as part of this contract. Officials say this work will require a full closure of S.R. 23 and is currently scheduled to start in late May.

The official detour will follow U.S. 20/31, U.S. 31, and S.R. 4.

INDOT notes that resurfacing work will be ongoing through the end of November.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time when traveling in the area and to follow traffic directions carefully.
