Woman charged with felonies after allegedly stealing copper from Economy Inn
Starke County Justice Center: Nichole Patrick HAMLET, Ind. -- A 42-year-old woman is facing felony charges after allegedly breaking into a local inn to steal copper plumping.
In February the owner of the Economy Inn on US 30 in Hamlet reported a break-in to the Starke County Sheriff's Department.
The inn was closed at the time due to a previous fire.
Investigators determined a suspect had forced entry into a room and taken copper plumbing.
In March, the owner reported further copper theft.
Deputies identified the suspect in both incidents as 42-year-old Nichole Patrick of Peru, Ind.
On Saturday, April 25, deputies, with assistance from the Hamlet Police Department, located Patrick at a residence in Hamlet.
Patrick was arrested and taken to the Starke County Justice Center.
The case report was submitted to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
Patrick is formally charged with Burglary and Theft, both Level 5 Felonies.
